Elsie Mary Bredo, 83, of Waikoloa died Aug. 16. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, she worked as a teacher’s aid and PSAP in elementary education and was an active member at the Kilohana United Methodist Church in Niu Valley, Oahu. Survived by son John (Barbara) Bredo of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Susan Bredo of Waikoloa; brother, John (Elsie) Hrynchuk of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; sister, Doreen (Barry) Lohmon of Parksville, British Columbia, Canada; sister Marie (Mike) Sumner of Regina, Saskatchewan, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Fukuyo “Fuku” Hata, 80, of Hilo, died August 11 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ka‘u, she was a retired nurse from Hilo Hospital and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, Kapualani Kumiai, Hilo Hospital Retirees, HGEA Retirees, and Queen’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
